On January 25, 2023, Dorothy Hullett Brown, 92, lifelong resident of
Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her
family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 3, 2023, at
Parkview Church of Christ with Welton Stoker of Parkview officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Arrangements
are by Dannel Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born in Sherman, Tx to JD and Thelma Hullett on September
16, 1930. She went to school in Sherman, followed by a year at Austin
College. She married Marshall (Buddy) Brown on March 24, 1954, in
Sherman, where they stayed and raised their four children. In her earlier
years she worked for Hagen Pontiac as a bookkeeper. After the death of her
husband in 1974, she continued the business he started, Bud’s Sporting
Goods, until it closed in 2021. Dorothy loved going to the Sonic, driving
around Hagerman’s Refuge, sitting on her front porch watching the birds
and enjoying the beautiful flowers in her flowerbed. She was a Christian and
loved the Lord. This was demonstrated through the life she led. She loved
everyone (especially children) and never met a stranger. She had a servant’s
heart and throughout her years she was involved in numerous duties at
Parkview, from Sunday school teacher to getting the communion ready for
Sunday services (and other duties that only her and the Lord knew about).
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother Bobby
Hullett and his wife Irene, in-laws N.L. Trice, Norman Hawkins, Jodie and
Jean Grigg, Judy Raines and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and
nephews.
Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Janice Hawkins of Sherman and Linda
Trice of Bentonville, AR; daughters, Denise Brown Mohling, Princess
(Penny) Brown, Cheryl Brown Martin (and husband John), Bobbie Brown
Bozeman (and husband Gary). She has seven grandchildren Tiffany
Reynolds, John Dudley, Jason Dudley, Angela McNeil, Jerry Smith,
Danielle Mohling, and Stephanie Cotton. She also has eight great-
grandchildren, Konnor, Keenan and Keeley McNeil, Max and Hudson
Dudley and Emerson and Colt Dudley, Sawyer Cotton, plus numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family of Dorothy Brown wishes to extend our sincere thanks to
Changing Seasons Home Health (especially nurse Tonya, for taking such
good care of mom for the past year), nurse Shannon, Guardian Hospice
(Becca who spent the one-day mom was on hospice helping us through the
transitioning process) and her doctors, Dr. Bradley Rue, Dr. David Davis,
Dr. Zuriqat and their wonderful staff.
