How grind kills ironman players with every update (2024)

Ayo guys, I would like to know your opinion, advice and try to present a look at the overall dynamics of updates for ironman players. I will only express my opinion on the trend of the economy, which applies to a smaller part of the skyblock players (I think there are fewer iron players than usual)

There will be a LOT of confusing text and my thoughts here (and the text may contain all sorts of errors because I used a translator) but the main question sounds like this:
How is it normal (in terms of labor-to-result ratio) to make money on ironman if mining dies?

Okay, get to the point and a little bit about my profile. I have a 350 ironman level and I am now at the stage of the game where you need to grind the dungeons,
I need to buy a lot of new artifacts (including hegemony, 8 ball, talismans from the shen auction, etc.), at the time of writing this post, the sum of these artifacts is more than 4b (and then I have not yet I listed everything)
because of the active game, I need booster cookies (now it costs about 13m)

all this requires a crazy amount of coins, and every day more and more because of the economy that is rolling into the abyss

I've been playing skyblock for a little over 1.5 years, my first profile was normal and I started before the garden update, a couple of days to figure it out, 2 weeks of braind ead gameplay and I collected 2.5b coins. it's worth noting here that this money is not from an NPC, but from other players
realizing that this is not my gameplay, I deleted the usual profile and created Ironman (I didn't even really know the game yet). I probably didn't fully understand what I was doing yet, but I haven't stopped playing yet

even though the first update of the garden was "normal", my earnings on a regular profile were due to a new component of the game (and not a small one) and the demand for the corresponding goods was high. the second update of the garden (and then its nerf, which is good) destroyed the economy of the skyblock, perhaps forever. the constantly rising price of cookies, global inflation for all goods in the bazaar as a whole is very bad. and this is all because of the second update of the garden, where there are a lot of players (including regular ones, not just ironman) They began to sell items to NPCs, simply creating coins out of thin air and pouring billions into the economy through the bazaar. I do not approve of braind ead gameplay, but I do not condemn it either, because each player strives to reduce their time and effort to achieve a result.

By that time, dillo mining was very actively discussed, where without a mining fiesta it was possible to earn more than 50m coins per hour. Yes, this required a setup with a price of probably about 2b at that time + a lot of powder for hotm. It is simply impossible to achieve such progress to earn money on ironman quickly (I don't mean from an early game). But I didn't have time to make a full divan set with 655 as dillo mining was killed (I made a full hyperion faster lol)

By the way, about hyperion, according to calculations on my knee, I spent more than 1b coins on danji. Yes, guys, there are those who have spent A LOT of COINS. The only trick is that you spend coins and immediately get a profit or spend coins for your own benefit in order to get a profit later (improve equipment to get better rewards)
So, I once collected money for necron handle and 2 scrolls, which is 200m coins (but in my opinion I took the handle at a discount) and at that moment I thought that I would still need to further develop mining for money and mine either gems or gold (the second is also an investment in gdrag for 1B collection)

At that time, I was very actively reading forums, watching YouTube about ways to make money on ironman and farming / mining - the main ways. And mining is a priority because it brings more money per hour (13-15m/hour versus 30-40m/hour, respectively)

Over time, I improved my setup to the maximum (I don't have only divan drill), and mining gems or gold is much more interesting than farming (at least for me)
And I thought that it would stay that way forever - a more or less stable income from mining, but not with this new update.

Someone will say that the update is bad - okay, good. Someone will say that the update is good - okay, good. Guys, an update is an update - some mechanics are outdated, you need to introduce new types of gameplay, locations, mechanics, etc. Updating the game cannot be avoided

But with each new update after I started playing ironman, I began to notice 2 things
1) the developers are trying to increase the number of grinds so that you can play more
2) developers may not fully appreciate (or fully understand) how much they delay the progress of ironman player development with each update

I'll explain everything now. Look, the first point is quite clear and logical - adding new locations, mechanics, opportunities for people to play more (and in general it was interesting to play), in order to be online, so that there would be someone to run f7 with, and so on. But perhaps not everyone pays attention to how it is done. I'll give you a couple of examples from what I remembered now:
Updating the dungeons with new rooms. Has anyone noticed that there are no mini-bosses in all the new rooms and you have to kill all the mobs? It's in all the new rooms and in all you have to kill mobs (remember the very fel that you can't find when you do br). in any case, killing one mob is much easier and faster than rushing around the room and getting mobs from every corner. New rooms are great, but each of them increases the game time more than if there were mini-bosses (or at least in some of the new rooms)

And the glacite tunnels update. To be honest, as an ironman player, I don't like this update at all from the word - A LOT OF RUTHLESS RNG
In the early days of the patchfix update, it was very easy to get powder, scraps, new pets, even portals appeared very often. The only problem for me was the crystals, the receipt of which does not depend on my equipment in any way, but only on luck and time spent
After the patchfix is released, remember the chance of drop on scrap. Imagined the faces of the ironman players who did not pass the glacite tunnels present??? Even if you have overmax setup, forget about mineshaft and scrap, forget about pets
I understand that the mineshaft pity system and the chances of scrap drop out as it is now should have been from the very beginning, but I got everything almost for free (spent very little effort), imagine other ironman who did not even start exploring glacite tunnels. From grinding powder to obtaining crystals to enhance the artifact of power

And now the second update of glacite tunnels (and the mining update in general) is killing the way to earn coins again.
But as I understand it, mining is still better than farming for coins

In any case, each of these updates is (probably) aimed at improving the economy of skyblock (which I really hope for), but so far there are more and more costs every day, and the ways to get money are getting worse (in any case, they are not improving and new ones are not being added)

I really hope that someone will pay attention to the essence of what I have described (regarding iron man players and their development). I understand that most of the players are ordinary ones who have access to the bazaar and can earn money in different ways and mostly updates are released focusing on the aspects and capabilities of ordinary players and it seems to me that less attention is being paid to the gameplay of ironman players
